Composite VS Plastic Hot Tubs

Plastic hot tubs have become popular among buyers. In this article, we will try to figure out why such hot tubs have become so popular, consider the pros and cons of plastic hot tubs, and also understand whether plastic models are durable and practical to use. ʕ ᵔᴥᵔ ʔっ

Manufacturers of plastic bathtubs assure customers that they make bowls from high-quality, primary food-grade polyethylene, which means they are environmentally friendly and harmless. But since childhood, we know that plastic of any quality releases harmful toxic substances when heated, so there can be no question of any environmental friendliness. So why has buying a plastic hot tub become so popular?

Let’s consider the advantages of plastic models

Pros OF PLASTIC MODELS

  1. Variety of shapes. The plasticity of the material allows you to create models of bowls of any shape, length and volume.
  2. Relatively low prices. The cheap product is popular with customers. Why overpay if you can save. Plastic hot tubs are a relatively cheap product in this niche.
  3. Ease of use and practicality. Plastic hot tubs are easier to clean than products made from other materials and do not require special care. The service life is much longer than that of the same wooden ones, which is undoubtedly a big plus. They do not need to be cleaned with special chemicals; they can be easily washed even from stubborn stains.
  4. A plastic outdoor tub often replaces a swimming pool in the summer heat.

Despite the large number of advantages, plastic baths, unfortunately, have a lot of disadvantages.

Let’s take a closer look at the limitations of plastic models

Cons OF PLASTIC MODELS

  1. The main disadvantage of a plastic outdoor bathtub is that the material is toxic. Whatever the quality of polyethylene, it is polyethylene, i.e. a synthetic substance that releases harmful substances when heated. In the summer, under the scorching sun, the water in such a font will be harmful to the human body and smell unpleasant.
  2. When creating a plastic font, special molds are used. Fonts are usually large in size, so it is very difficult to create monolithic models without connecting seams. Fonts are often welded in parts, so at the joints there can often be ruptures and leaks in the hot tub.
  3. A plastic font does not tolerate interaction with metal. For example, when installing a metal staircase, you can damage the surface of the plastic with scratches.
  4. Buying a plastic bathhouse and using it for ice-cold dips in frosty weather seems like a great idea. But remember that when water freezes, it expands and can tear the walls of the plastic.
  5. Plastic cannot maintain optimal water temperature.
  6. The color of the plastic fades in the sun. Over time, the font will not look as bright and aesthetically pleasing as at the beginning.
  7. Due to the lightness of the structure, the plastic font must be deepened into the foundation or finished independently with wood or tiles.
  8. Plastic itself is a fairly fragile material. Your hot tub runs the risk of becoming severely deformed if damaged.

Materials from which tubs are made

Fonts are made from various materials. The most common models are made of wood and metal. Less commonly made of plastic and composite.

Wooden models are most susceptible to rotting and corrosion, but are environmentally friendly and even useful to use.

Metal models of hot tubs are considered the most durable, but there are many disadvantages and problems in operation. We will talk about them in more detail in our next article. Follow our publications.

We produce hot tubs from composite material. This is a combination of wood and polymer, which has shown excellent results in operation.

Why do we offer composite hot tubs? Composite hot tubs are durable and reliable hot tubs for use both in private areas and in public places.

Let’s look at the main advantages of our hot tubs

  1. Fonts made of composite are monolithic. There are no seams or joints. All hot tubs are integral, which means that the hot tubs will not leak, and the monolithic design looks expensive and aesthetically pleasing.
  2. Beautiful wood trim. We have four colors of hot tubs in stock that will perfectly complement the interior of your bathhouse or summer cottage.
  3. Composite material is not afraid of corrosion and rotting. This is a durable material that will delight its owners for more than twenty years with the pristine beauty of the product.
  4. Composite hot tubs are easy to clean. They do not absorb dirt and do not require long cleaning with special chemicals. They do not require special care, like wooden products.
  5. Large selection of shapes, volumes and lengths of models. Composite material is flexible, so we offer beautiful streamlined shapes of our baths with monolithic benches molded inside the bowl around the perimeter or in the corner.
  6. Composite material is not at all afraid of temperature changes: neither aggressive sunlight nor severe frost.

Composite hot tubs, in our opinion, are the most practical models of all existing on the market. We have considered all the pros and cons of the materials, but the choice is yours! Choose your ideal hot tub!

We purchased our Wave last year and plan to keep it up throughout winter this year as winter is much milder in recent years. This was our 3rd spa and without doubt the quality of the pool is better than any other portable spa on the market.
