Japan Inspiration

It is no secret that Japan is famous for its ancient traditions, which are carefully passed on from generation to generation. Preserved and treasured. One of the special traditions is the art of properly managing your time, attitude towards your own health and protecting your own karma.

Studies have shown that Japan has the longest standard of living among its population. The latest data shows that it is 82 years for men and 87 for women.

This indicator is achieved due to many factors – a healthy diet, an active lifestyle, a philosophical approach to life and recreation. It was in the ability to properly restore their strength that the Japanese succeeded before anyone else.

Traditional Japanese ceremonies of relaxing tea, leisurely eating with chopsticks and, of course, a Japanese bath – the so-called furako.

A barrel filled with warm water makes you completely relax, throw away bad energy, fill with the warmth of healing water and completely recover in about 30-40 minutes of this procedure.

Why are furakos so popular in Japan?

It’s simple. Each furako is a piece of the so-called onsen in your home.

An onsen is a natural hot spring. Onsens play a huge role in the life of the Japanese: the country even has a special law about them. It describes in detail what is considered an onsen, what can and cannot be done at thermal resorts, what to be wary of and how to behave correctly.

About 70% of Japan is mountainous, mostly of volcanic origin, so throughout the country a tourist can find many water sources, heated by volcanoes and rushing to the surface through mineral-rich subsoil. An onsen, according to Japan’s hot spring law, is a water spring (a spring gushing out of the ground). The word “onsen” consists of two characters, the first means “warm, hot”, the second “source, key, spring.” There are more than 27 thousand onsen in Japan – at three thousand resorts and in mountainous areas that are still inaccessible to tourists. About 2.5 million liters of thermal water per minute are released from the ground: in about 20 years they could fill Lake Baikal – and this is one fifth of the world’s fresh water reserves. At the onsen there are ryokans – traditional Japanese hotels with hot baths.

15 years ago, we (the future owners of the POLARSPA brand) experienced the beauty of such a procedure during a trip to the ancient monasteries of Japan. A visit to the Japanese furaco bathhouse in one of the mountain spas made an indelible impression on us and gave rise to the idea of embodying this miracle in a modern form.

The choice to create

Returning home, the hard work is started. From the very beginning of the idea, its implementation and implementation in production, we acted on the basis of our ikigai philosophy. This is written in more detail in the philosophy section. Only thanks to this philosophy we have obtained exactly the product that is in demand on the market.

After several months of careful study of the technology and practice of using fonts or furaco, it became clear that using traditional wood for the font itself was not a good idea. Wood is a very capricious, inconvenient and even unsafe material. The difficulty of operation, drying out of wooden slats, their rotting and other factors made us think about modern technologies.

The compromise solution was a modern innovative composite material. Considering the fact that our company has been producing pools from composite materials since 2002, the choice fell on it.

The wood remained as an external decorative finish. The use of natural wood allows you to maintain a connection with nature and the historical traditions of spa and relaxation.

Consultations with our main supplier of composite raw materials – BUFA COMPOSITE SYSTEMS GMBH (Germany) made it possible to select a balanced technology for the production of composite liners for future furaco. True, by that time we increasingly began to call our future product a more understandable European word – tub or hottub.

The design of future tubs was created with the participation of a number of professional consultants from various fields: medicine, furniture production, stoves, metal structures, a scientist in the field of wood processing and, of course, a fashion designer.

Each of the involved specialists gave their recommendations for the future tubs:

Medicine
Medicine
Proper seating in the bathtub is the key to complete relaxation and rest of the body muscles. Japanese furakos were 1000 mm deep. This depth made it possible to have a sofa at a depth of 650 mm from the top and a comfortable distance for the legs of 350 mm. Medical recommendations have confirmed these values. It is important that the water is at the level of the middle of the chest. In this case, the warming is carried out correctly and does not affect the heart. He's comfortable.
Furniture

It was determined that the hot tub needed a sloping back. It is the tilt of the back that allows you to achieve complete relaxation. Think of your car or a seat on an airplane - the back is tilted back. The deflection angle is 11-12 degrees. This angle is the most comfortable for long-term sitting, which means it suits us exactly.
Stove
Stove
The stove is the heart of the hottub. A properly made stove will allow you to quickly heat the hottub and save fuel. Some researching were made, some calculating in thermodynamics, metal thicknesses were determined for structural strength, safety and speed of heat transfer. After applying this data to the design, the future oven was created.
Metal structures
Metal structures
We really wanted to make the font very technologically advanced, both functionally and in appearance. If you take a closer look at our frames, this is a masterpiece of engineering - all the parts have their own functionality, the thicknesses are calculated, there are no unnecessary elements.
Wood
Wood
Consultations with scientists in the field of woodworking gave us the understanding that using thermally treated wood would be the best decision. After carefully selected wood processing technology, we got what we wanted - the most stable, premium quality wood.
Design
Design
Convenience, functionality, minimalism, elegance, premium style - these are the main requirements that our designer faced before starting work. I think it turned out not bad. All our hot tubs share a premium look, concept, understated style, and functionality.
So, in 2009, 16 months after the start of work, our brand POLARSPA was born.

Our hot tubs are now sold in many parts of the globe

We are not standing still. We are now working closely on creating some new models of baths, and have also begun producing modular baths.

The POLARSPA bathhouses model line is now gaining momentum. The model line will include baths for north frosts with good insulation, as well as simpler designs. There will also be bathhouses for indoor use (Indoors). We expect that the number of models will satisfy all existing demand.

Solutions for your suburban area

Lately we have been wanting more and more to create a complete Eco-system POLARSPA. Our experience and skill, sense of design and practicality of design solutions, knowledge in the field of wood processing makes us make a large line of garden furniture. Then the POLARSPA company will be the only one on the market that provides comprehensive solutions for your suburban area in one style – a modular bathhouse, hottubs a model terrace, garden parquet furniture, pargalas and swings. All this can be done in one style. The ikagai philosophy of POLARSPA will allow you to realise your SPA space in an ideal finished form, using modern ideas, technologies and design.

The principle of modular design

It runs through all our products. No construction, simplicity and clarity of assembly, thoughtful design – these are the principles that we implement in our product line. Don’t waste time – live a full life, we have already thought of everything for you, we have already solved your construction problem, we have already made standard design projects.
